Watched Microsofts; I cant believe they started with COD! Though I'm loving ESPN coming to XBLive, and using Natal to control DVD playback is awesome! (if they had Fox8 and a ZunePass-like subscription for movies, I'd love to replace Foxtel :) ) Gears of War looks awesome too, imersive, smooth gameplay, cool features making teamwork easier, not into Halo or MGS, I want a new experience!
Microsoft seem to be pushing XBox as a place to get digital content for your TV rather than just a gaming system; good for me, I dont game enough to warrant buying a dedicated gaming system. I guess this fits in with their 3 Screens, 1 Cloud strategy.

Oh, Wiki has him listed as the President of NOA (Nintendo of America), I'd prefer him not be the face of Nintendo to us westerners (getting Miyamoto in there was awesome though).

How does [Portal 2] look amazing? From what I saw it was just a few seconds of gameplay that showed the same mechanics that we have seem heaps from the first game.
It looks amazing 'cos Portal 1 was amazing. :D I wonder if they'll get Jonathan Coulton back in for another credits song; I just copied Still Alive to my phone and am loving it.

Journey by thatgamecompany was announced by there aren't many details about it. Also Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet looks rather cool. I hadn't heard about it beforehand.[/quote]

Journey sounds interesting, perhaps something like Demon's Souls (which I havent played, but I have had a friend who played it a lot). I never did play Flower, perhaps I should.

Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet does less to interest me. Watching the trailer made me interested, but it felt like these guys should be making awesome animated shorts or something, not a video game. I wanted to watch it much more than play it. The gameplay seemed stale and tedious, which is sad because I think I would enjoy experiencing all they have to offer visually, but I doubt I would sit though the whole game (assuming its longer than about 5 hours, which it very well might not be, in which cast call me excited).

Definitely play Flower, I found it amazing. It gives an excellent sensation of freedom to the player.

Oh of NOA. I thought you meant overall. I stand corrected then.

Personally I love that level of animation quality it games. It makes a game feel less rigid. I second playing Flower.

I love it as well, all I'm saying is there should be an awesome game to complement it (Braid, World of Goo, etc). I haven't seen anything about the gameplay that interests me sadly.

They had a fair few gameplay levels on the floor that I watched of Portal - it really does look like it will be as good as the first - if not better. I think what has been happening is the consoles and companies have gotten far to big to cram everything into one conference, I'd much rather it if they left E3 to the games, and maybe some other technology show to show of "Xbox ESPN" and whatever, same goes for Sony and Nintendo. Chris probably knows my views on E3 are the complete opposite (as for Reggie, he was OK in 2006, now I just can't stand the guy) to what his are :P. I also think that E3 should be about the GAMES and a celebration of gaming (like it used to be) rather then a "Look how good we are, we've x% of the market share, how awesome are we".

You can call me Elitist in this sense, however, I don't find it particularly good news that x console has sold more then y console. Sure its great for the gaming business and publishers, but considering the amount of new gamers coming in and the audience changing, it hit home when Steam actually dumbed down the UI for Tf2, yea sure its nice to say 'everyone's a gamer', but at the same time not appreciate the value of that game.

I'm hoping in years to come E3 will be about the games and a celebration of gaming and less about 'oooo look at us'. I enjoyed many of that released trailers and whatnot for E3 (many of which did not appear in the keynotes).

You've probably already read this Chris: but there have been many many rumours that hint at the Last Guardian being displayed at the Tokyo game show (Which I think is a more fitting location for that game to be shown at :) )

E3 has always been about the spectacle of the industry. I wouldn't ever consider E3 to be a celebration about games considering that it is a product trade show that emerged out of CES. It reeks of consumerism and the industries insecurities of being compared with Hollywood. At E3 people think of games as products as opposed to games, art, or anything else.

You are right, TGS seems more appropriate for it. PAX is too consumer orientated and westernized for a game like the Last Guardian.

I think that the last guardian would be celebrated at PAX. I heard about it from Penny Arcade.

PAX has always struck me as gamer oriented more than consumer oriented. The fact that they have a BYO LAN, a tabletop/rpg gaming room, and lounges for mobile gaming speaks to that (as well as all their live shows celebrating gaming culture). I'd like to go sometime.
