Hi Im David Lannan aka Grover (yes from Adelindie - the grumpy old man).
Derek mentioned there was a new motivated, and exciting group of people getting into gaming in Adelaide, so i signed up :) Btw.. get and download Derek's Driving Speed - great stuff!!

Making things in code is what I enjoy and do. Have worked in a few places, in game business and in the simulation industries and enjoy it thoroughly. Have also done a fair amount outside of work, helping out with the setup of Adelindie, assisting people/companies here in Adelaide building things. Enjoy helping others out to build what they want/need. Just want to see Adelaide thrive as a game development hub - I know we have the people here to do so!

I should also thank Ben Kilsby, because he mentioned this new site as well, and is a great ambassador for game development companies in Adelaide.

If ppl need some coding.. feel free to pm me. Can supply full engines (free source etc - dont care about selling them ie: http://users.on.net/~dlannan/LuaEng/LuaEng_Main.html) etc..
cheers.

Hey, I'm Brad

Currently studying a BCA - Digital Media at Flinders, while working at Holopoint. I've been to the last two Aavcons showing off independent games with a friend (Sub0 and Collider) which although the days seemed to go on forever, turned out to be good fun and interesting to see what the rest of Adelaides indie gamedev community was up to.

I'm primarily a programmer, but can also do some 3D modeling / animating (although not very good..). My outdated portfolio is up at http://weesals.com/, which will be updated with 4 new games as soon as I get on top of the piles of work Ive yet to finish.

Look forward to seeing you guys at one of these BBQ's

Hi everyone,

I'll be ripping off Donno's style of intro-post, so you'll just have to live with it :P

My name is Grizz (yes, that's how I like to be addressed), I'm 30 years old and have been interested in games and wanting to make them since I was a child.

General Background:
I'm originally from NSW, but have been in SA since I was about 6. I lived in the Adelaide Hills from age 14 until I moved into Adelaide at 21 - been here ever since. Eventually, I want to move to Canada and my dream job would be working at Rockstar North (or Vancouver). I have a spouse and a small child. I am unemployed.

Educational Background:
I dropped out of high-school halfway through year 12 in 1997. In 2008, I sat the adult entry test for university and was accepted into the Media Arts course at Magill. My Major is Interactive Multimedia, my Sub-major is Animation and I've used my electives to make an informal Minor of Film & Television Production.

Gaming Background:
I have been gaming since I was a child. My first system was an Amstrad CPC464 (tape-drive), followed by a Commodore 64. Although I didn't own one, my first console experience was with the Atari 2600. My first gaming console was the original Gameboy - I was a Tetris master. I have either played, or owned, nearly all gaming systems that have been released since the 90's.
I not only game on computers/consoles. I have spent a large portion of my life gaming in the real world. From pick-a-path adventure books in my childhood through to CCG's in my teens as well as a considerable amount of time playing tabletop games and LARPing. I used to be a Narrator for "Vampire: City of Churches", the then largest LARP in the southern hemisphere with 60 members (average attendance was 30-35).
My gaming experience is quite extensive - so I've only put the highlights in here. I'm sure you'll hear more about it as time goes on.

Some Random Fact:
I've browsed the member list and found 2 interesting things:
1) the average age of members that have listed their age (ignoring the ridiculous 95 year old profile :P) is approx. 21.
2) there are spam-bot profiles (at least 2) on the site. I know how to spot them from years of doing it on a different forum.

Hi, I'm a 3rd year Software Engineer at Adelaide Uni. I've been called Luke Edwards, Hack-Shot, Lukkas and otherwise, so I'm hoping that LukanFox will finally begin to stick. Anyways, I've been playing games ever since I won one by accident in Year 2 and lost interest in team sports.

I'm on the end of the spectrum where I have not had any practice doing any programming for anything that wasn't for school/uni, mostly for two reasons: I'm too busy gaming to actually start working on making my own game, and that when I can get around to it, I don't know what I want to do for a first project to develop my skills. I get grand ideas that fizzle into nothing because I can't act out on them, and I don't get small ideas that can get me to make the first step in the right direction.

Which is why I'm here. I'm hoping that participating in the GCD will help me get started (when I can participate, I couldn't go to a number of the earlier events) and that someone else can give me something to go on. Yeah, I know. I'm sorta looking for a copout, but I'm pretty hopeless by myself. If I can work on some sort of a group project or something, I might be able to use that to help me get started on my own.

So yeah, that's me. Here's hoping the GDC will give me the cure to my non-startism.

Hey all, I’m Tony.

Currently doing freelance game art work and bouncing in and out of holopoint. Focusing on texturing but I have known to model and design GUI. Plus pixel art.

Educational Background:
Cert 3 in Applied design
Advance diploma in screen (game art)

Im always looking for different styles to emulate e.g borderlands, madworld and not just realistic 2k maps for unreal.

I have a texturing blog if you want to check it out.
